The word Epiphany comes from an ancient Greek word meaning manifestation. The feast celebrates that moment when, as recorded in the Christian Bible, and in particular in the Gospel of Matthew, those mysterious men from the East came to Bethlehem having followed a star from their homeland. The relevant passage reads: “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?
